Let’s hope winter is about over. It has certainly been a long one and I for one have had my fill. Although I have stayed busy these past few months, the cold and snow have certainly put a damper on Buyer as is reported by Long and Foster’s President, Jeff Detwiler. (see related article below). I finally met with a client last weekend that had originally scheduled to meet with me the first weekend in February. This being said, with these past few days of warm weather, it is making the phone ring even more and I am optimistic about the pent-up demand for real estate releasing as spring progresses.
Mr. Detwiler is optimistic and I have also included an interesting article from the real estate economist David Berson, in an interview with Housingwire, who is very bullish on the 2014 real estate market. Over 1.2 million new households will be created this year and they will need a place to live. Of course he does mention the job market and how growth in jobs and growth in housing are interrelated. Hopefully as Southside Va. continues to dig out of the recession we have experienced, businesses will recognize our affordability and quality of life and look at this area for future expansion.
Auctions continue to be a great tool for moving real estate in a sluggish market and although, not all properties fit the auction criteria, it is a method of selling that is becoming more attractive and I have included an article from Auction.com listing the attributes of the accelerated marketing method.
